We asked Beji a few questions
We know you play for the group Fuzed and you guys are currently on tour with Joyce Meyer, tell us some great moments you have had on tour.
Well there have been quite a few! From the pranks we play on each other to the awesome times in worship where the crowd really connects with us. There was one time in Arlington where our bassist Jacob and I had an experiment with Lunchables. In our hotel room, we’d stand clear across the room and launch each piece of turkey and cheese and see which would stick to the windows. Surprisingly, all of them stuck! From the music standpoint, Louisville was the greatest seeing 10,000 people standing and singing in unison to the songs we were playing.
Who are some of your favorite drummers?
My idols are definitely Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) and J.J. Johnson (John Mayer). Taylor brings the energy that I totally love and JJ brings a groove like no other. I try to model myself after those guys as much as possible.
We know there are a lot of drum companies out there, what made you choose us?
Well thats a great question. I’ve been endorsed by a bunch of companies over the 20 years that I’ve been playing and SND stands out as one of the best when it comes to customer service, reliability and quality. I don’t have to worry about any issues with anything. Andrew does a stellar job with running SND and taking care of his artists. There isn’t a worry at all when I have SND gear on the road with me.
What are your current drum sizes?
I have a couple of kits that I use on the road depending on the type of gig I’m playing. For the FUZED tour, I’ve been playing a 7.5″x14 snare, 20×22 kick, 12″, 14″, 16″ toms and 12×10 SND auxiliary snare.
Any musical moments that you will never forget?
To name a few, it has to definitely be playing to packed out arenas on this tour as well as being featured in Modern Drummer magazine.
